2015 Babes Supporting Local Businesses

Supporting Our Community that Supports Us

Business Babes Society is proud to be a part of the wonderful Madison County community.  We strongly believe in supporting the community that supports us, as an organization and our individual businesses.   When a community works together, small businesses thrive.

We are dedicated to being involved in the community. The Babes work hard, individually and collectively to make a difference in our community in Madison County, KY.  As per our bylaws, we have a Community Outreach committee.  This committee actively looks for opportunities that Business Babes Society members can participate in to give back to the community.  We also provide opportunities  where the Babes are encouraged to focus time and energy in promoting and supporting local charities and non-profit organizations.

Every month we invite at least one non-profit organization to our monthly Chick Chat meetings.  The non-profit organization's representative has the opportunity to have a table for displaying information.  They also have 5-7 minutes to provide the meeting attendees information about their organization.  This is a great way for Babes to learn about the non-profits that are within our community, as well as, their purpose, goals and accomplishments.  Many Babes have became involved with these organizations after their presentation at our meetings.

If you are a non-profit organization that's purpose is to create a better community, we would love to have a representative at our meeting.  Please email us to let us know the name, the purpose of your organization, and a contact representative information.  However, due to limited number of meetings we are not able to schedule everyone but we will do our best to incorporate as many non-profits in our schedule as possible.

A few of the local organizations that Business Babes Society have supported:  Downtown Richmond Association, Hope’s Wings, New Opportunity School for Women, God's Outreach Madison County Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity Madison-Clark Counties, CASA for Children in Madison County, Hospice Care Plus of Madison County, Health Now! Clinic, Human Society, Glean Kentucky Berea Chapter, Hope's Scarves, Berea Arts Council,Opportunity for work & Learning,  Kentucky Heartwood, Berea Women's Club, Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass, Stamp to Cope, Inc. and our BBS Scholarship Fund.

  • As of 2016, we have presented $7,000 to Madison County female seniors in our scholarship program.
  • Throughout the whole year of 2015, many Babes participated in our Babe-ometer.   As a group we tracked our purchases at locally owned businesses, retail shops and eateries located in Madison County.  Our goal was to put $30,000, as an organization, back into our local community.  However, we surpassed that goal by ending the year with $124,108.81 being spent by the Babes to locally owned Madison County businesses.  This was one way to show that we support the community that supports us.
  • In 2016, Business Babe Society participated in the Women Build 2016 with the Habitat for Humanity Madison & Clark Counties.  Our members worked independently and collectively through multiple fundraisers to raise $12,214 towards a home for a Madison County family.  In order to raise the monies, we worked with many local businesses to hold 'Dine and Donate' events, had yard sales, silent auctions, parties, personal donations, and a 12 hour Cut-a-thon which involved the help of local hair dressers.  As Russ Barclay stated at the home dedication ceremony, "The Babes put the fun in FUNdraiser".
